Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino Given 8-Month Prison Sentence

His brother, Marc Sorrentino, has been given a 2-year sentence.

Mike Sorrentino, better known as "The Situation" from MTV's Jersey Shore, has been sentenced to eight months in prison for tax evasion, CNN Reports. The TV personality appeared in New Jersey federal court Friday to receive his sentencing, which includes two years of supervised release. Sorrentino has also been fined $10,000 and will be required to complete 500 hours of community service.

Sorrentino's brother, Marc Sorrentino, was sentenced alongside Mike. He was given two years in prison and a fine of $75,000.

Sorrentino pleaded guilty in January following a 2014 indictment for falsifying tax returns, both personal, and business-related. He and his brother were charged for filing false tax returns for approximately $8.9 million in income between 2010 and 2012. Sorrentino reportedly paid no taxes in 2011, despite making somewhere around $2 million.

"The Situation" appeared in all six seasons of Jersey Shore from 2009 to 2012. He also appeared in the recent spin-off, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, the second season of which is currently airing. It is unclear if their will be a third season of the show. 

In other Jersey Shore news, cast member JWoww filed for divorce from her husband, Roger Mathews, last week. The two were married for under three years and have two children together.
