HBO has today unveiled the official teaser trailer for a new docuseries titled "Being Serena," a five-part documentary series about Serena Williams that will explore her tennis career, as well as her 2017 marriage to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and the birth of he first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
The 36-year old tennis superstar has spoken about the complications she faced during her pregnancy in the past, revealing that she nearly died after giving birth to her daughter. "Being Serena" will provide more details into exactly what happened, as well as her journey back to the tennis court.
Additionally, “Being Serena” will touch on Serena Williams’ life as a businesswoman and investor in technology, fashion, fitness and philanthropy, according to the Huffington Post.
“HBO is honored to work with Serena Williams on such a personal project,” Peter Nelson, executive vice president, HBO Sports, said in a statement. “Even though she has been in the spotlight since her teenage years, Serena continues to capture the imagination.”
In the first teaser trailer, Serena speaks about the moment she found out she was pregnant and how she questioned if there was anything left for her to achieve on the tennis court. At the end of the clip she adds, “But I’m not done yet.”
"Being Serena" is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, May 2 at 10 pm ET on HBO.
