You can watch "RoboCop" in its original X-Rated glory.

The 1987 film, RoboCop, while known for its gore and blood, could have been even more violent. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) originally gave RoboCop an X-rating, which forced the director Paul Verhoeven to attempt to subtract some blood. Verhoeven tried ten different times before he finally succeeded in getting the film demoted to an R-rating, which reflects the film that was shown in theaters. However, Amazon is somehow streaming the original, X-rated version right now.

If you search RoboCop is Amazon Prime, the film comes up as "unrated." It may not be clear for any first-timer watcher, but the internet has collectively confirmed that this is indeed the rare and x-rated version of the movie. It is unclear whether this was on purpose or by accident.

Paul Verhoeven said in the past that he wanted the violence in this movie to be so over-the-top that it came off as comedic, and that the cuts he was forced to make due to the MPAA rating, actually made the killings seem more gruesome than he intended.
