CBS This Morning recently did a piece on Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, the docu-series produced by Jay-Z. Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, appeared on the show to speak about the documentary, and also her life since she lost her son in 2012. Fulton briefly touched on Zimmerman, and she explained that she tries not to think about her son's killer too much. CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King asked Fulton if she had forgiven Zimmerman.
"I have not," replied Fulton. "I have not. I know that in my own time, in my own grief and this whole grieving process that I have to forgive. But by the same token, I'm not at that point yet. I'm very honest with that. A lot of people ask me that question, and I'm very open and honest about it. I'm very real with my feelings, and I know I have not forgiven."
She also revealed that she did not open the box of Martin's belonging that the authorities gave to her after his death for years. "I call it Pandora's box, and it is the box of evidence that was given to me by the Department of Justice," she stated. "Probably three years after Trayvon was shot and killed. And when I first got the box I said I wasn't gonna open the box. And of course curiosity bothered me for a while, because the box was in the house. And I, I opened the box and I cried and cried and cried."
