Sad news has come out of San Antonio Wednesday night that Spurs’ head coach Greg Popovich’s wife, Eric Popovich, has passed away.
"We mourn the loss of Erin," Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said in a press release. "She was a strong, wonderful, kind, intelligent woman who provided love, support and humor to all of us.”
It’s unclear at the moment on how Erin Popovich passed, but the news definitely comes as a shock to players & fans across the league. Some reports say Erin was ill for a long time, but that’s just speculation & hear say at this hour.
The Popovich’s were married for four decades and had two children and two grandchildren.
The Spurs are scheduled to take on the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of their playoff series Thursday night in San Antonio. Earlier today, Kevin Durant was caught with a loss of words when he found out the tragic news from reporters (see below).
