Wade: "just paying some due respect to [Oliver] and his family tonight."

Dwyane Wade turned back the clocks in Miami last night, scoring 15 of the Heat's final 17 points including a game-winner over Ben Simmons, as the Heat picked up a 102-101 victory.

Making the moment even more special, Wade was wearing his signature shoes with the name Joaquin Oliver written on it, in honor of one of the 17 victims who died in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Oliver was buried in a Dwyane Wade Miami Heat jersey earlier this month and the 36-year old shooting guard thanked him for being his angel last night in Miami. Speaking with reporters after the game, Wade said he wanted to pay "some due respect to Oliver and his family."

Per ESPN:

"From the standpoint of away from the game of basketball, as I continue saying, just understanding how important we are as professionals," Wade said. "And for me, it's just giving whatever I can to people who believe in me, and especially people who were happy about me coming back here [after the trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this month] who embrace me the way that I only can dream of with me coming back home. So just paying some due respect to [Oliver] and his family tonight."

Wade finished with a game-high 27 points in just 25 minutes of action as the Heat improved to 32-29 and moved to within one game of the Philadelphia Sixers in the seventh seed.
