IKEA and Virgil Abloh teased their forthcoming collection together a couple of months ago, as Scandinavian minimalism becomes filtered through an utterly contemporary and conceptual lens. Now, the two cultural forces have previewed their joint effort at the Swedish retailer's Democratic Design Days 2018 event, where the Off-White designer was on hand to contextualize his designs. "I want each item to bring a sense of pride, and I want the great design to be the biggest reason why you get it," Abloh notes.

Three previously-seen items were highlighted in the showcase, including a triangular red doorstop/chair accessory, an enormous rug resembling a mundane Ikea receipt, as well as a glass cabinet featuring several panes surrounding a wooden frame. Abloh believes this cabinet could be used to showcase an individual's sneaker collection. 

Speaking about the doorstop, Abloh reveals how his intention with the piece is about "elevating the anonymous, everyday icons that we use without noticing."

The collaboration is expected to hit Ikea stores in 2019; peep some images below:
