Trump, Pence and others could be subpoenaed.

Colin Kaepernick's legal team is reportedly expected to to seek federal subpoenas to force President Trump to testify in the free agent quarterback's ongoing collusion case against the NFL.

According to a report by Yahoo Sports, Kap's legal team wants to the Trump administration's involvement with the NFL during the QB's free agency and how they have handled player protests. In addition to Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other officials familiar with the president’s agenda on protesting NFL players are also subject to subpoenas.

For Trump and others to be subpoenaed, the attorneys must first get approval as agreed to through the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement. The attorneys would then have to present their argument to the collusion arbitrator overseeing the grievance, explaining why testimony from Trump, Pence or others in the administration is important to the collusion case. If the arbitrator agrees, the subpoenas could be sought.

In the grievance filed against the NFL last October, Kaepernick claims that the 32 teams in the NFL have essentially blackballed him from ever playing in the league again.

“The owners of respondent NFL teams have been quoted describing their communications with President Trump, who has been an organizing force in the collusion among team owners in their conduct towards Mr. Kaepernick and other NFL player,” the claim says. “Owners have described the Trump administration as causing paradigm shifts in their views toward NFL players.”

No NFL team has worked out Kaepernick since he became a free agent after the 2016 season. The Seahawks had planned to bring him in for a workout in April, but ultimately postponed the visit because Kaepernick declined to stop kneeling for the national anthem next season.
