Jay-Z gets candid with Van Jones.

In 2017, CNN commentator and social activist Van Jones announced his signing on with Roc Nation's managment team, adding on to an extensive roster of public figures that call the media company home. This month marked the official arrival of Jones' self-titled talk show on CNN and his very first guest was fittingly Jay-Z as the two men sat before an intimate studio audience to discuss everything from Jay's publicized marital issues, to the #METoo Movement.

“I believe everything happens for a reason,” the mogul said of the campaign spawned from the recent rise in sexual misconduct allegations in Hollywood.“Everything is a learning experience—you know, the good, the bad, the ugly. This had to happen to purge itself. ...This movement and everything that’s going on and what we're finding out, it's like racism. It existed the whole time. It's almost like we normalized it. It's the normalization of the things we do to survive. For women to go to work knowing this sort of abuse was happening every day; because you can look and logically say, ‘Why would you stay there?’ What’s the alternative? You have to survive in America.”

When arriving on the topic of Donald Trump's recent "sh*thole countries" comments, Hov admitted that the president's words were “disappointing and hurtful.” He'd add that "it's really hurtful because he's looking down on a whole population of people and he's so misinformed because these places have beautiful people."

Other topics of discussion included, Colin Kaeperncik, Meek Mill, and even a moment in which Jay gushes over six-year old daughter Blue Ivy. Catch all the clips below.
