Spooky Black hasn't released a track on Soundcloud in a year, so it came as a major surprise to his fans when he dropped off "Destrooy," a moody hymn reminiscent of teen-angst movie soundtracks.
The 18-year-old cloud rapper and alternative R&B singer's tracks on Soundcloud attract millions of listeners. Spooky's style is at times similar to that of James Blake. Few strings and keys accompany his lament on this track. His voice is like a mellow howl in the wilderness. A couple of years ago, music critics were already hailing the Minnesota native as some sort of R&B Messiah. Then, he stepped away and stopped releasing music. After flying under the radar in 2016 -- possibly to escape the lure of fame -- looks like Spooky Black is back with something fresh and more mature.
