Slaughter Gang leader 21 Savage is the star of Season 5, episode 1 of #OnTheComeUp.

Very few new rappers have been making more noise than Atlanta's 21 Savage. Some have compared his forceful entry into the game to that of Waka Flocka, as it's been his street-centered rage that has set him apart from his melody-happy competitors. What makes the rise of 21 different, though, is that his menace quivers beneath the surface until he's ready to attack with one of his razor-sharp hooks, providing a roller-coaster ride of suspense that translates surprisingly well into party scenarios. He's had longtime ties to some of his city's best producers, and Metro Boomin has laid relatively low this year while putting in work on their highly anticipated joint project, Savage Mode

Before Savage Mode earns the attention of the entire industry, get acquainted with 21 Savage as the latest guest of HNHH's On the Come Up video series. The interview took place the day after 21 performed a sold-out show in Brooklyn, which the NYPD had forcibly moved from a famed venue in Manhattan due to security threats. After discussing his first headlining show in NYC, 21 talks about his rapid ascent in the game (he's been rapping for little more than a year), his Slaughter Gang crew and label, and why he's earned the respect of some of ATL's leading artists. He also pays homage to the recently freed Trap God Gucci Mane, who he says "opened up a lane for street n*ggas to rap from East Atlanta."

In his second year in the game, 21 is expecting to blow all the way up. Savage Mode up next!
