Nas launches a Mass Appeal imprint and signs Detroit's Boldy James.
Boldy James is one of the illest rappers you probably haven't listened to yet, but we can expect that all to change very soon now that he's got the backing of the original Illmatic MC, Nas. We knew that Nas invested in the re-launched Mass Appeal magazine, and it turns out he's stepping things up a notch by launching a Mass Appeal label imprint. The first move was to sign Detroit's Boldy James, a move we definitely support.
Nas co-signed Boldy earlier this year, and followed that up by bringing him out at SXSW as well, so the signing doesn't come as too much of a surprise for those who follow Boldy closely.
Congratulations to Boldy on the new deal!
Check out what you may be missing with Boldy's debut (and extremely dope) mixtape Pros And Cons: Trapper's Alley.
[Update: Boldy James Denies Signing To Mass Appeal]
Contrary to our report yesterday, Boldy James just tweeted that he is still unsigned:
Can I get a deal on the table 1st before people start with the rumors. Still the most slept on unsigned hype in the Game. #BoldyBlocks227— Block Works (@BoldyJames) April 18, 2014
Stay tuned for more updates on James' status in the coming weeks.
