It will probably come as no surprise to you that Mariah Carey is nuts about Christmas. She created one of the most inescapable holiday jingles, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," back in 1994 and has performed it constantly ever since, as a fixture of Christmas and New Year's Eve specials. For her to do this, and not love Christmas would probably drive even the sanest of us out of our minds or, at the very least, be a little disingenuous. It's also impossible, if you're a human being on planet earth, to escape the song, which plays in grocery stores, doctor's offices, bars and even your friend's house.
She said recently on Jimmy Fallon that she understands what it's like to be inundated by Christmas music. And in fact, she's happy about it. She spends Christmas with her family in Aspen and, she says, "everybody who is with me in Aspen, they have to listen to Christmas music 24 hours a day. Christmas is very important to me. I try to make it fun for everybody – I literally have Santa Claus out there and real reindeer. I’m not making this up!" Whether you like it or not, Christmas will never be emancipated from Mimi.
