Kanye West's mother, Donda West, has always been his biggest inspiration. Since her tragic passing in 2007, Kanye has gone on to name his charitable foundation as well as his creative agency (DONDA) after his deceased mother. Now you can see just how close the two were in this heartwarming video, shot in 2005, that shows Kanye singing "Hey Mama" to his adoring mother.
The clip is taken from an MTV documentary that goes behind the scenes of the making of Kanye's 2005 album Late Registration. Kanye's mom was obviously a huge influence on that album, and her spirit continues to shine through 'Ye's music today. On his recent single with Paul McCartney, "Only One", Kanye channels the voice of his mother in Heaven and sings to his one-year-old daughter North.
