Hype Williams gives a shout out to Beyoncé.

In the conversation for the best music video directors of all time, Hype Williams has to be in consideration. Having been in the game for almost 30 years now, he's directed videos for everybody from the Wu-Tang Clan, to Kanye West, to Future. Out of all the artists that he's ever worked with, however, one of them clearly stands above the rest: Beyoncé.

While giving a lecture at the Red Bull Music Festival in May, Williams spoke about how Beyoncé was his favorite artist that he'd ever had the pleasure of working with.

"My favorite person to work with artistically is Beyoncé and I’ll explain to you why," Williams said. "The reason I say Beyoncé, obviously because of who she is, but more so, she just works harder than me. At the time, I didn’t understand that. Like I never met an artist that would run circles around me in terms of her work ethic."

The two of them first linked up for the video for her song, "Check On It," which featured Bun B and Slim Thug. Since then, the two of them have collaborated on several more videos, including "Video Phone" with Lady Gaga and "Drunk In Love" with Jay Z

"I’m used to dealing with guys I’d have to force to do stuff. She was just the opposite. She was young, driven is not even the word. She’s my favorite because she inspires me that way," Williams continued.

Beyoncé has become renowned for her elaborate and stunning performances, so it's not surprising that Williams would be impressed with her work ethic. You can check out William's comments about Beyoncé at around the 45-minute mark of his whole lecture, below.
