Shoot Da 3

Yung Simmie taps his hometown native Denzel Curry for a slick new anthem: "Shoot Da 3."

The steady grinding of Yung Simmie, a former member of the Raider Klan, is finally starting to pay off. He's officially one of the hottest talents in South Florida, though as far as Southern rappers go, he's still criminally underrated. That's likely to change if he keeps on dropping the type of heat heard on his new mixtape, It's Simmie Season, released earlier this week. One of the best tracks on the tape is "Shoot Da 3," a collab with another Dade County all-star in Denzel Curry, a member of this year's Freshman class.

The track finds both Floridians snapping over a production that blends trap with a moody jazz loop. They each rap with an aggression that's definitive of the best Miami street rap, but what separates these guys is their lyricism. Simmie's new tape is sounding like a real winner, and as for Curry, his flows are landing with the same precision as the 3-balls of the Curry who plays on the opposite coast.

Quotable Lyrics

Talkin' to the cops, call the referees
You be cheap talkin', I keep cash on me
Thinkin' I'm gon' fall, wake up out ya dream
30 with the beam, make a n*gga lean
