XXXTentacion experiments with a familiar sound.

While his emotional 17 album featured some crisp, refined production, X's older music was the polar opposite. Some of his earlier loosies, including tracks like breakout single "Look At Me" and the unfortunately titled "Maxipads For Everyone!" were unapologetically lo-fi, with distorted mixes and an oversaturation of ad-libs. Now, X has teamed up with Ronny J for a return to his roots, putting down the acoustic guitar and picking up the six dollar microphone for "Red Light!" In true Soundcloud style, the track clocks in at just over one minute, and finds X shouting his way through an overdriven instrumental. If you're not one of the true fans, you might want to skip out on this one.

While some might feel like X is taking a step back, the young rapper did promise a return to his roots, claiming his new project would be "for the fans." Therefore, it's no surprise to see him once again experimenting with the sound that made him pop off in the first place.

Quotable Lyrics

Red light, let the bitch go at the red light
Big bite, bet that bitch bite like a great white
Fist fight, can't do that we tote them dicks like
Gun fights, know that this ain't what you want
