Adidas has made a push to challenge Nike's dominance in the sneaker industry in recent years and the brand continued its growth in the first quarter of 2018, though not as much as they've come to expect.
According to analyst Matt Powell, Adidas had a mid-teens sales gain in Q1 (February-April), which is a decline from recent years. That said, it was still a bigger gain than the Nike Brand, whose sales grew in the low singles "thanks to solid growth in the sport lifestyle category," according to Powell.
Despite the fact that Adidas is gaining on Nike in the sales department, none of the Top-10 best-selling sneakers of Q1 2018 were from the three stripes. In fact, all of the best sellers were produced under the Nike and Jordan Brand umbrella.
In order, those best-selling sneakers are the Nike Tanjun, Air Jordan 11 Low, Air Jordan 1 High OG, Nike Air Max 270, Nike Air Huarache, Converse All Star Low, Nike Revolution 4, Air Jordan 9, Nike Air Force 1 Low, and Nike Flex Contact.
