Like several contemporaries, namely Lil Uzi Vert and friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend XXXTentacion, Ski Mask has taken on death-defying leaps as a form of artistic expression. While others turn to diaries or wholesome crafts like papier-mâché, Ski Mask opts for a more reckless lifestyle. Some may equate him to the drunken friend who performs backflips at the slightest provocation. Yet perhaps his moonlight stints as a diving coach have cemented his live show among hip-hop's more exciting affairs.
During a recent Slump God concert, the rapper scaled the concert balcony as if a child hung precariously from the ledge. Amidst chants of "Fucked Up, Fucked Up," Ski readied his descent. One wonders what flashed through his mind at the moment of departure. Somehow, his leap of faith transformed into a sort of haphazard swan-dive, though more ugly-duckling. Word is still out on the fallout, and one has to wonder if the stunt led to any injured parties. Imagine looking up only to find The Slump God plummeting in your direction.
