Even superhuman cyborg cops aren't too good for KFC to cut them a chicken check. That's right, RoboCop, also known as Alex J. Murphy, is the latest "celebrity" to endorse mega-fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken. There are a handful of comedic commercials available starring the robotic law enforcement officer, all of which feature him donning Colonel Sanders' look including white hair, mustache, and goatee.
There have been a slew of celebrities who have endorsed the brand with their own KFC campaigns after the original founder Harland Sanders died in 1980. Ray Liotta, Norm McDonald, Jason Alexander, Reba McEntire, Rob Riggle, Billy Zane, Rob Lowe, Jim Gaffigan, and George Hamilton have been featured in the chicken king's commercials, but this is the first time a semi-human has taken the crown.
In one commercial, KFC shows that RoboCop has been hired to protect the Colonel's highly secretive seasoning recipe. In another, RoboCop feeds random hungry people on the street, an advertisement for the company's $5 Fill Up meals. A third shows RoboColonel hosting a dinner party where he pretty much threatens death to anyone who wants to know KFC's secrets. KFC is known for bringing the comedy to their advertisements and they didn't fail fans with this campaign.
