Post Malone & 21 Savage's "Rockstar" hits platinum status.

Post Malone's "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage has already made some pretty solid accomplishments this year. Despite several controversies surrounding the song, it maintains as a huge song in both 21 and Posty's catalog. It's been inescapable, getting heavy play on the airwaves and being pushed heavily by Apple Music. Earlier this week, it was certified as the longest running #1 hip hop song on the charts of the year. Today, they reach another height with the song.

The RIAA has officially dubbed this single as platinum as of October 27th. This comes shortly after the single reached number one on the charts and maintained its position there for four week straight. It's a major single for both artists who've already had a pretty great year so far. Since the song dropped, it made some monumental moves. Apple Music said it shattered their single-week streaming records after gaining 25 million streams within its first week.

The song's came with some backlash upon its release. At first, a fan called Post out for the lyrical content surrounding the song, specifically the references to popping pills. However, Post later countered the argument by stating that he never told any one to use drugs but is rather telling his own account of his life.

However, the bigger controversy that surrounded the song was Atlantic Record's deceitful way of boosting plays. It was reported that the label posted a video of the same length of the song on YouTube but the video only consisted of the hook being placed on loop throughout the whole thing. They'd also place the buy link in the description box of the video to up the streaming and overall sale numbers. The video has since been taken down off YouTube.

Now with the single being certified platinum, hopefully this is a sign that the video will drop soon. Post previously posted a picture of himself and 21 Savage on a video set, watching playback footage. There hasn't been any other glimpse or BTS footage that's surfaced single's visual counterpart but maybe we'll end up getting it in the coming weeks.
