Famous Lies & Unpopular Truths

Nipsey Hussle's "Famous Lies and Unpopular Truths" firmly demonstrates what he's all about.

Once again, Nipsey Hussle showed up to make this Monday a little bit more manageable. Instead of his usual Marathon Monday song release, he shared a new five-track EP entitled Famous Lies and Unpopular Truths. The EP shares its title with the final track, which is the only new one of the bunch. "Famous Lies & Unpopular Truths" couldn't be more definitive of the principled approach Nipsey takes with his music, thus why it's the titular song. Nipsey repeats the same passage of hard, concise street poetry a few times, and his bars sound impeccably clean each time. The one shortcoming is that the song lasts under two minutes, and one feels like Nip could've added some more storytelling to expound on all of the values he so proudly lays down (though I guess that's where the first four tracks come into play).

Quotable Lyrics

I don't feel none of y'all pain, y'all ain't take none of these risks
I don't feel none of y'all made the decisions I made to be real with this shit
I don't trust none of y'all motives, I know you lackin' the code
I know I gotta be tapped into somethin' from how they attackin' my soul
