Nas & Gunna

Real recognize real, as they say.

There is no disputing that Nas is one of the best lyricists to ever touch a mic. With a vast discography, a bonafide classic, and several excellent albums to his name, Nas' status is undeniably that of an icon. In that sense, his words carry a notable weight, especially where co-signs are concerned. As it happens, the Queensbridge OG appears to have taken an interest in Gunna, who dropped off his brand new Drip Or Drown 2 project today. Nas took to Instagram to offer some kind words to Gunna, further validation that real indeed recognize real.

"Love seeing young brothas work their way out the hood to make a better life for their families," writes Nas, posted up alongside big Gunna on IG.  "Much respect to @gunna on the new album release. Keep shining young star. Proud of u. Drip Or Drown 2." It's unclear how Nas and Gunna initially crossed paths, but it's clear that the OG has taken somewhat of a mentorship role in the young rapper's development. Respect to Nas for holding it down for the new generation.

While Nas and Gunna have yet to collaborate on a record, Gunna is no stranger to the New York scene. The Atlanta rapper recently hooked up with Dave East on the excellent "Us," one of last year's more underrated deep cuts. Hopefully, Nas and Gunna can find some time to link up in the studio.
