Listen to Mike Gali's glossy R&B-rap record.

Mike Gali was born in Haiti, before moving to Hot Springs, Arkansas at age 4. Now 21, Gali is pursuing a career in music while attending the University of Memphis. He just released his Collegiate Talent mixtape, on which his new submission "2AM in South Padre" appears. The song begins with a long, gradually-chipmunked sample before transitioning into a melodic jam that blends rap and R&B. Both glossy and catchy, it introduces Gali as a promising songwriter who could one day write a hit. As he writes of his own music on SounCloud," This isn't Kanye's 'College Dropout' or J. Cole's 'Friday Night Lights' but it does show potential. Seeing as both artists were 25 or older when they release those projects, he certainly has some time to develop.
