Rico Nasty has released "Wanna Do," a song fans have been anticipating for some time. The track has been floating around in snippet form, along with a short clip of a music video, for months, though it did not appear on Rico's debut album Nasty in June. Now that it's arrived in full, it's clear that it would have fit perfectly alongside the synthy, in-your-face tracks on the album, which leads us to wonder why it didn't make the cut. Production comes from The Real Chinoo, Tay Goes In, and Rico Herself.
We recently spoke to Rico about the process of refining her songs for the album. "I was actually just watching Teyana Taylor’s interview where she’s talking about listening to the debut version of shit. Like listening to the unmixed shit and I was really excited for this project to drop because I had bonded with a lot of the songs that were like the unmixed versions," she said. "It was really cool to seeing [Kenny Beats] go back in there and perfect all the shit that I was like, shaky about. It was my first project where I was like, where I felt like one of my fans. I didn’t want to listen to the tape until everything was completely done. It was so weird, I was always like okay, checking back with everybody. It was cool, though." Read the full interview here.
You'd think that I'm in the ocean
The way that I ride beat
Eat all of these bitches up for breakfast
Like, "Bon Appetit!"
Everyone who doubted me
I got 'em all in disbelief
Rather do it than to say it
Because I know talk is cheap
