Kevin Gates returns to Instagram after his release from prison.

Although he was released from prison in January, Kevin Gates has been surprisingly silent for the majority of 2018. It was a big deal when he made his transition back to freedom until the hype somewhat died down unexpectedly. People were confused as to what was going on with the rapper as he had rarely spoken out since making his way out. His wife Dreka Gates revealed last week that the reason he has been so quiet is because the Illinois Department of Corrections is forcing him to remain in the state of Illinois, effectively chaining him to the city. Playing off that narrative, Gates finally made his return to social media yesterday, flexing his chains and using a "Chained to the city" hashtag for good measure.

Playing some of his music in the background, Kevin Gates flexed his diamonds while a camera focused solely on his neck. Today, Kevin added a photo of himself rocking the same chains as he stands in front of a green screen, perhaps suggesting that a video could surface in the near future. The "Really Really" artist addressed his legal woes, writing, "I went to trial every time knowing I was gone lose - but I’m built for it," and adding hashtags for "Chained to the city" and his upcoming project I'm Him.

It is unclear from the posts whether or not Gates has been given the okay to travel within the country but, as of last week, he was not even allowed to go home to California. We will continue to keep an eye on Kevin Gates' situation to provide you with updates as they take place.
