Millad Mesriani was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago but managed to stay positive and distract himself from the harsh realities of his battle through his sense of style, specifically a strong passion for Air Jordans.
Through Make-A-Wish Foundation, Mesriani recently made a trip to Nike's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon where he linked with designers to create a 1-of-1 Air Jordan 1 PE. The special edition kicks feature a reflective white upper accompanied by black overlays and metallic blue accents, as well as a golden sword hangtag and sword detailing debossed near the heel.
"I found confidence through my sense of style," writes Mesriani on Instagram. "As long as I had my new Jordan’s on, everything would be okay. Sneakers and fashion became a way for me to escape the reality of cancer."
"This is much more than just a sneaker. To me, this is a symbol of my fight. These sneakers are the literal light at the end of the tunnel."
