JaZZ is from the Northern suburbs of Chicago who only began making music in 2016. His new track, "City Girl," doesn't immediately fit into his nearby city's scene, but it definitely makes sense in the context of rap's current trends. If it were to parallel anything from Chicago it would be the more melodic moments of Chance The Rapper and Towkio. Like many of his peers, JaZz is as much a singer as he is a rapper, but his music isn't necessarily informed by traditional R&B, instead opting to color in his rap-influenced bars with hooky vocals. His production merges the sample-based beats of yesteryear with today's high hat obsession, giving his music a fairly wide appeal. You can listen to more of his music on his official SoundCloud profile.
