Iggy Azalea stakes her claim with her sharpest track in a minute.

Iggy Azalea is back, and while it may be premature to say “with a vengeance,” her return does feature more bite than previous false starts. Coming off somewhat of a tumultuous saga, in which her sophomore project seemed caught in record label limbo, Iggy has clearly kept her nose to the grindstone. Insofar as musical quality goes, her latest back-to-back drop is the sharpest we’ve heard her in a minute. Even her most ardent detractors may be surprised to hear a newfound sense of focus in her oft-debated drawl.

Employing a Ying Yang Twins-esque whispered delivery, Iggy belittles those peddling the Ford Focus, making it clear she’s sliding through in the Benz. The instrumental is somewhat of a knocker, perhaps emboldening the Australian-born emcee to bring her A-game; it’s no wonder she sounds so confident, having been freed from the candy-coated confines of pop-skewed production.

Now, with her Survive The Summer EP set to arrive on August 3rd, it would appear she’s heading in the right direction. Do you feel like it’s too late for Iggy? Or are these two singles enough to prove she still has something to offer?

Quotable Lyrics

Roads with the cracks, with the rats, and the roaches
Bust the duffle bag open
Hush money in the sofa
Bitch, you know what I'm talkin'
