Even after her identity has been made public, Vallejo R&B artist H.E.R.'s music exists with a degree of anonymity. On the cover of her new project, I Used To Know Her: The Prelude, the singer hides behind a blank polaroid, suggesting that she hasn't told her whole story just yet. "Feel A Way" is one 6 records on the warm-up for her proper debut album, and digs further into the dreamy confessional style she does so well. Th track finds her frustrated with a partner, warning them not to make her lose her cool: "I've been trying so hard not to go off, but you're trying me." When the bassline drops, a gorgeous stack of harmonies coincide to spell out the title of the song -- "Don't make me feel a way" -- coloring it with the range of emotions that can come with loving someone who continually does you wrong. On the verse, she reflects on a dynamic in which her partner blames her reasonable reactions to their lack of respect on her acting "crazy" and "irrational." "It's your fault, I played my part," she concludes.

Listen to the full project here.

Quotable Lyrics:
Crazy, but you made me like that
2AM, I thought you was on the way
It's your fault, I played my part
Don't start that talk
Like you ain't planning to stay
Oh I hate when you do that shit
Now I'm bringing up the past shit
Oh, tell me I'm being irrational
I'm not dealing with you all I know is
Don't make me feel a way
