Ready for a new Hellboy?

David Harbour won over fans worldwide with his role as Chief Hopper on Stranger Things. Now, Harbour will have to impress the moody and critical comic book fandom as he is set to play Hellboy in a new remake. Tossing away Guillermo del Toro and Ron Pearlman's duo of flicks, director Neil Marshall is taking a swing at Mike Mignola's devilish comic book character.

A two-minute reel from the upcoming Hellboy reboot was shown to an audience at New York Comic Con this weekend with the promise that the footage would not appear online. As promised, there has yet to be a leak of the footage. The Hollywood Reporter got a glimpse at the reel, which stunned fans. In the footage, Hellboy is painted as a gritty violent hero who has trouble getting along with his co-workers at the B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense). “I thought we were supposed to be fighting monsters, not working with them,” states Daniel Dae Kim’s Ben Daimio in the film.

“It’s a little darker and it’s a little funnier. Neil is a very funny man, and that’s something that a lot of people don’t get to see,” Kim stated to the audience. “It has a completely different feel,” Harbour clarified. “I want to get to the core of Mike’s stuff, which to me is horror, even an existential kind of horror. It has a bit more of a Mignola feel rather than a Guillermo del Toro feel." Nimue, or "The Queen of Blood," will be played by sci-fi and fantasy veteran Milla Jovovich. Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, and Brian Gleeson round out the cast. Hellboy touches down April 2019.
