Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor rematch inside the octagon? According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, the negotiations are ongoing and he believes we're going to see the two go head to head in an MMA match.
Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT, Davis says, "I think it's going to happen, and I think it will be a three-, four-, five-hundred million dollar fight again."
Mayweather has said a number of times that he's retired and won't be fighting any more, whether it's in the boxing ring or in the octagon. However, he hasn't done anything to stop the speculation. About a week ago, Mayweather posted a couple of different videos of himself in the cage, including one where he says, "2018, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather, MMA. What are the odds, Paddy? What are the odds?"
Davies tells talkSport's Jim White that the talks of a Mayweather vs McGregor sequel are ongoing.
"My soundings are that there are a lot of talks going on in the background, there are a lot of talks around people with Mayweather.
"There are a lot of talks about him potentially having an MMA fight with Conor McGregor.
"Conor McGregor had no chance in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
"People will tune in to see Mayweather get stopped by Conor McGregor, and it won't affect his boxing record.
McGregor would surely love another crack at Money Mayweather, especially on his own turf, and the fans would undoubtedly pay to see it. McGregor has not fought in the UFC since he won the Lightweight belt against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
