As the protests began, and the National Guard was subsequently deployed, the video of Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old protester who was violently shoved by law enforcement, made rounds across the Internet. Gugino's seen on the ground bleeding as police officers literally walk over his body without doing as much as acknowledging that an elderly man was injured.
Per TMZ, his attorney, Kelly Zarcone, has shared an unfortunate update on the status of his health. Gugino suffered from a cracked skull from the fall and is now unable to walk on his own two feet for the time being. He was released from the ICU last week, though Zarcone's statement from Gugino suggests that even he's more focused at the bigger picture. "I think it's very unnecessary to focus on me. There are plenty of other things to think about besides me," Gugino said in a statement released through his attorney.
This comes just a week after Trump said that he's "could be an ANTIFA provocateur" who "fell harder than he was pushed." Even so, the two officers responsible for Gugino's injuries, Aaron Torgalski and Robert McCade, have been charged with second-degree assault. They pled not guilty. They have also been suspended from the force without pay.
