President-elect Donald Trump has named New York Jets owner Woody Johnson as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. According to Reuters, Trump just made the announcement during a luncheon in Washington honoring his supporters.
Johnson has been a big Republican donor and has reportedly been under consideration for this position since December.
Taking on this new role as ambassador to the UK means Woody will have to relinquish his day to day duties within the Jets organization, and reports suggest he'll be handing over those operations to his brother.
The Senate will have to approve Johnson before the move is official but that's said to be more of a formality at this point.
