The DC Universe has officially welcomed Swamp Thing into the fold by way of an eerie new trailer. Such an ominous quality is to be expected considering the pedigree of executive producer James Wan, who helped bring such films as Insidious and The Conjuring series to life. Set to transpire in the same extended universe as both Titans and Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing appears cut be cut from a different cloth altogether. Bringing elements of backwoods horror into the mix, the series will be drawing from Alan Moore's acclaimed and beloved source material.

Hypebeast reports that Swamp Thing will follow Holland (portrayed by Andy Bean) prior to his transformation to the titular creature, as well as his love interest Abby Arcane, (actress Crystal Reed). Eventually, Arcane begins investigating a swamp-based virus, which ultimately leads to some unsettling discoveries. Eagled-eyed viewers might catch glimpses of Ian Ziering's Blue Devil, as well as a possible appearance from Professor Pyg.

Check out the trailer below, and look for Swamp Thing to premiere on May 31st, via DC Universe.
