Not long ago, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie came through with the surprise release of his new single "Bleed," set to be included on the upcoming Deluxe Edition of his Artist 2.0 album. With the updated version set to arrive on Friday, A Boogie kicked the rollout into gear with a stripped-down, emotional take inspired by the New York drill movement. Following "Bleed's" release, the artist hit up Beats 1 radio for a conversation with Zane Lowe, where he opened up about some of his philosophies that drove the track's creation.

"From my perspective, it's like in the beginning of the song where, I swear I don't need love. It's so petty. But at the same time, I'm just having mood swings, because I could be talking to one of my best friends, suddenly having the craziest--But I don't really mean it because I'm just mad at the moment," he explains. "But then at the same time, let's say I find a dollar, and I'm with my best friend. I'm going to give my best friend 50 cents if I find a dollar. Some people will find a dollar and just put it in their pocket. So it's little messages like that inside the song, that hopefully people will understand."
He also explains that the state of the world has been impacting his temperament. "To be honest, I'm having a lot of mood swings with that because there's so much going on at the same time where a lot of people was looking at one picture," he continues. "I like to look at different perspectives and put myself in different people's shoes. And I feel like everything isn't right. Even when we try to balance it, we're not doing it the right way. So that's why I really wasn't speaking up that much towards it. But at the same time I feel the energy, so everything is iteration in the air at the same time as being a negative vibe. It's still a positive vibe when you're bringing it to me.
