Serena and baby Alexis take cover of Vogue's February issue.

Serena Williams and her four-month old baby girl, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., covered the February issue of Vogue, which features an in-depth article about the tennis star's stressful medical experience following Alexis' birth.

Additionally, Serena opened up about the difficulties of motherhood and her tennis career, saying she "will need a little more time" before she pursues her 25th Grand Slam title.

According to the article, Williams had an emergency C-section after her heart rate dropped dangerously low. Then came a plethora of postpartum complications and emergency surgeries stemming from her history of blood clots.

“When I first saw this @voguemagazine cover it brought tears to my eyes,” Williams said in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “All Vogue covers are special but to share this one with my beautiful daughter @olympiaohanian also the youngest Vogue cover star makes it moment I will never forget.”

In speaking about being a mother for the first time, the 36-year old tells Vogue (H/T Huffington Post):

“Sometimes I get really down and feel like, man, I can't do this,” the 36-year-old says in the article. “It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am. No one talks about the low moments ― the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry.”

She adds: “I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane.”

The magazine will hit newsstands on January 16th, you can check out the Vogue article here.
