At the end of December, Anders dropped off "Why," which features an eerie, hypnotic banger from the talented FrancisGotHeat. On that note, Francis lives up to his name with this one; the carnival-esque, pitched-down synths are a perfect compliment to Anders' pristine vocals. In terms of vibe, it's sort of reminiscent of 6lack's blend of off-kilter rnb, and while Anders isn't exactly covering any new melodic ground, "Why" remains an impressive offering from the up-and-comer.
Lyrically, Anders stays entrenched in the comfortable territory of braggadocio, celebrating the benefits of his carefree lifestyle. Good weed, shooters who have his back, and plenty of opportunity to get lit. And the lyrics may suggest another piece of mindless turn-up music, Anders' solid voice, keen ear for melody, and excellent beat elevate "Why" to another level.
