CyHi sets his sermon off on a high note, now say "Amen."

This morning, CyHi The Prynce finally released his long awaited No Dope On Sundays, and after hyping himself up as the "best rapper alive," fans were eager to see if he'd deliver on those promises. While it's still too early to truly asses the album, the introduction is a stunning display of CyHi's lyrical prowess, encapsulating all of his talents in one five minute package. Storytelling, vivid imagery, punchlines - CyHi does it all on "Amen," striking a tone that permeates throughout the entire project. It's not quite gospel, it's not quite street, but rather a hybrid between the two, and CyHi deftly navigates the peaks and valleys of either world.

Like Biggie before him, CyHi incorporates his own variation of the commandments, which include "thou shall not seek nobody else approval," and "take care of ya' family and your crew too." A good intro track should make you want to stick it out for the entire project, and "Amen" serves its purpose in spades.

Quotable Lyrics

Fuck being conservative, I was tryna' serve it up
Stir it up, rather sell a bird then be a burglar
A third of us ridin' 'round tryin' find a purchaser
With my lil' Spanish chick usually as my interpreter
For some years I haven't heard from her
That was my lil' sweetie pie, can't believe I deserted her
