Hodgy's been relatively quiet for the majority of this year with the exception of a handful of guest appearances and loose singles. The rapper returns today with his bouncy new single "July 4."
Hodgy comes through with some bounce on "July 4." It's a wavy single that highlights the best of Hodgy's talents as both a rapper and a producer. Hodgy flexes his off-kilter flow over some trippy minimalist production. It's an infectious new single that continues to highlight Hodgy's lane that he's paved for himself. It has the feeling of Odd Future when they first came on the scene and were really delivering left-field sounds.
"July 4" is a major contrast to the single he dropped prior, "I'll Be Good." The last single was an honest effort that addressed some of the personal issues he was dealing with at the time. However, now that he's back to consistently dropping music, maybe it's an indication of what's to come in the future.
Quotable Lyrics
Sickness, even with the quickness
Your haters sayin' you relayin' it with a quick fix
And love is a fuckin' drug, sniff this
And now I'm addicted to the dipstick
