Vic Mensa brings the HEAT in this 5-minute freestyle on Funk Flex.

Fresh off his performance at this weekend’s Made In America Festival in Philly, Roc Nation artist Vic Mensa decided to make his way by the Hot 97 studio the other day in NYC & bless the listeners on-air to a Funk Flex freestyle which he straight bodies.

Claiming that he’s been waiting on his opportunity to spit a Funkmaster Flex freestyle, Vic went on to deliver an impressive, 5-minute lyrical onslaught. Going in over the Swizz Beatz instrumental for N.O.R.E.’s classic posse cut “Banned from TV,” the Chicago rapper kicked things off by rapping about the advice he’s received from his Roc Nation boss JAY-Z.

“Hov told me, ‘Vic, keep a foot on they neck’ / We in Barclays, balling like the Brooklyn Nets,” he raps. “I should have my own Mitchell & Ness / You’re remissive, I’m cancer in stage 4, I’m as sick as it gets.”

Vic later went on to reference his hometown friend Chance the Rapper, rapping "caught a gun case for the Smith and Wesson, I'm so violent/ post bail like Chance, that's no problem/ right hand presidential like Joe Biden/ cut your girl an eyeliner like the old Rodman.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Mensa also makes it a point to shout out Tupac Shakur, who Flex has made controversial comments about in the past. “I know Flex don’t really rock with ‘Pac,” he raps. “But I’m still screaming Makavelli ’till the coffin drops.”

With much more where that came from, watch Vic spazz out hard on the mic in this 5-minute freestyle. His debut album, The Autobiography, is available now on iTunes. Read our review of it right here if you missed it.
