Born and raised in Baton Rouge, YoungBoy Never Broke Again is a descendent of the region's most popular rappers Lil Boosie and Kevin Gates. "War With Us," a new song from his Ain't Too Long mixtape contains the same confessional, borderline bluesy approach that made his predecessors so engaging. Always half-sung in his barrelling rasp, the 17-year-old is not short on melodic ideas, constantly darting in unexpected directions with his versatile voice. Produced by regular collaborator Dubba-AA (and Mike Laury), the song feels unique to YoungBoy as he continues to refine his style.

YoungBoy is set to head out on the "Number the Pain" tour with 21 Savage next month. We recently spoke to YoungBoy abut his relationship with 21, in which he revealed that the two had been in contact since NBA was incarcerated earlier this year. "Yeah, I spoke with him [21 Savage]," YoungBoy says, "He was on the Hi Horse'd Tour... He was ready for me to come home."

YoungBoy's Ain't Too Long mixtape was released exclusively on YouTube on Saturday. So far there is no word on whether or not it will be released across major streaming services in the future. For now, you can listen to it here.

Quotable Lyrics:
Seven murders in one week
Bitch it's crucial and it's wicked
Body after body
Ain't no help up in my city
Homicide, you gon' die
If you stuntin' like you with it
Got 'em slippin'
Blowed his brains out
Nobody said who did it
