A vocal group of Star Wars fans online are unhappy with Lizzo and Jack Black's recent cameo in The Mandalorian. The group took to Twitter after the latest episode to decry the incident as the death of the franchise.
"#StarWars isn't for us nerds anymore," one fan wrote. "We who respect the lore & would be in tears after being cast in one of the movies or shows. Star Wars is now for the popular kids who giggled & high-fived the bullies for stuffing you in your locker."

Lizzo seemed to respond to that tweet in particular, on Monday. "13 year old Lizzo who got teased in the locker room & her gym clothes stolen would be shook that I’m getting accused of being ‘popular in school’ right now. I’m really doing everything right," she wrote. "Stay mad."
In response to all of the backlash, Billy Dee Williams, who famously played Lando Calrissian in the original trilogy, spoke with TMZ about diversity in the Star Wars universe. "It's a good idea. There's no doubt about it." Williams explained, "I mean, the whole idea is to try to bring it to the younger people today. So, you have to utilize the people who are popular today. It's a business. We obviously can't forget about that part of it. You're always trying to build an audience. So, building an audience means that you have to incorporate or bring in the sensibilities of a younger group of people. So, you have to use these wonderful, talented people who are popular today to attract new audiences."
The Mandalorian, which stars Pedro Pascal, is currently in its third season on Disney+. The finale will air on April 19 and a fourth season is already in development. Pascal will keep himself busy in between seasons by filming HBO's new series, The Last of Us, in which he stars alongside Bella Ramsey.
