Amerie, who originally rose to prominence in 2002 with her highly-acclaimed but All I Have, has been a mainstay on the R&B circuit since then. Her latest track, "Redrum" has dropped on her Soundcloud page and it's both a departure and something familiar for her fans.
Still there are the sassy, diva lyrics that she's been known for since her career got started; however, what's new is the pop-trap production that lies beneath those attitude-laden verbal jaunts. It's definitely a far cry from even her last EP Drive, which featured the same thumping, cheerleader routine-style beats we've grown accustomed to hearing from her. It's a different kind of spice that should still hold up under an initial tasting.
