Fetty Wap just earned the key to New Jersey, and it's got people looking at the city's rap scene a little closer. Todd Scott hails from Newark, but his style doesn't really have any resemblance to Wap's, instead going with a low-key, personality-driven songwriting approach. "Tech Lift" is written as a conversational narrative, with Biggie-style back-and-forth over the phone. The mood stays pretty consistent throughout, and with a less engaging performer, it might get boring, but Scott holds our attention throughout.
