Being a fan of Jon Connor is similar to being a fan of Dr. Dre. While there's a sense that something great is on its way, we've been waiting a while for it. HNHH caught up with Connor at A3C Festival in Atlanta to get an update on his solo work, as well as to discuss his contributions to Dr. Dre's recent album, Compton.
Connor has been signed to Aftermath for about two years now, and he revealed that he's spent most of the time within the camp assisting on Dre's long-awaited studio album. When he first came on, the LP was still titled Detox, but he said that somewhere along the line he got a call where he was told very matter-of-factly, "Detox is dead".
Now that Compton is complete, Connor confirmed that Dre's focus is now squarely on him, and the legendary beatmaker will serve as executive producer on his debut album, providing some instrumentals, and all the bells and whistles that come with an Aftermath release. He also shared plans to release a mixtape in the near future, and while he wouldn't let go of too many details, he promised if would all be coming together very soon.
