Lochte issues an apology via twitter.

Ryan Lochte has finally released a statement about the ongoing scandal in Brazil in which he claimed he was held at gunpoint and robbed by men posing as Rio police officers.

In the statement he says, "Its traumatic to be out late with your friends in a foreign country- with a language barrier- and have a stranger point a gun at you and demand money to let you leave."

Two of his teammates were pulled off a flight and detained until yesterday afternoon while the other, Jimmy Feigen, recently agreed to make an $11,000 donation in order to leave Brazil and head back home.

The gold medalist swimmer posted the apology to his twitter account which you can check out below.
