Pusha T Recalls The Email Exchange With Jay Z That Led To "Drug Dealers Anonymous"

Pusha T's first single from his upcoming album, King Push, had the rap world talking yesterday, as it featured a guest appearance from none other than Jay Z, who rose to the occasion with one of his better verses in recent memory, giving the GOOD Music president a run for his money. Push has spoken to Genius about how the record came together, revealing that the two exchanged a few important emails before Jay put his record on wax.

According to Pusha's recollection of the conversation, he told Jay Z that Tomi Lahren's conservative attack on Beyonce had inspired the song, specifically the line about Jay being a "14-year drug dealer," which was later sampled on the song. He said Jay's response was something along the lines of "WTF? Why you taking me to a dark place? Now I’m going to grow my hair out to be on this track with you…"

It seems Push was looking for Jay to look back to his hustling days, as he says he wrote back, "Man, there’s nothing wrong with telling ghost stories. We need them. We love them. We love these things."
