Today marks the four-year anniversary of Lil Peep's fan-favorite mixtape Crybaby, which has officially made the transition onto streaming platforms for the first time. To honor the bittersweet occasion, Peep's mother Liza and brother Oskar took to Instagram to pen a statement detailing its creation and importance for Peep's artistic development.

"On June 10, 2016, Gus released one of his most beloved mixtapes – Crybaby," they write. "Today, four years later, we are proud to release Crybaby on all digital streaming platforms exactly the way Gus and his collaborators made it. These songs were exported directly from the GarageBand recording sessions on Gus’s old MacBook, and for the first time, the world is hearing them in the highest audio quality possible."

The statement also highlights how Crybaby marked a transitional point for the young artist; for the first time, Peep actually linked up with his producers in real life, building relationships with collaborators like Nedarb, Smokeasac, and LeDerrick. While the album is likely familiar to Peep's longtime fans, it hasn't stopped his family from celebrating its official re-release as a personal victory.  "We are so glad to give this album to Gus’s devoted fans, and hope it will help get people through these particularly tough times," they write, closing the emotional post with some kind words.
