Spider-Man is one of the world's most beloved heroes, to say the least. Since his first appearance in August 1962, Spidey has proven his longevity, with a particular surge of popularity in the late nineties and early aughts. Between the nineties animated series (which I will mention at any opportunity), the Sam Raimi trilogy (even Spider-Man 3), the Amazing Spider-Man, Tom Holland's MCU portrayal, the PS4 rendition in Marvel's Spider-Man, and the acclaimed Into The Spider-Verse, it's safe to say that the momentum has yet to slow. And while Sony has lent the character's rights to the MCU, they have since proven dedicated to creating a universe through some of the major supporting players.

With Venom already seeing success, and a Jared Leto-led Morbius set to arrive in the imminent future, it seems Sony has it all figured out. Speaking with Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tony Vinciquerra and Sony Television chairman Mike Hopkins have confirmed there is indeed an elaborate gameplan mapped out. "We have the next seven or eight years laid out as to what we’re going to do with that asset, and that will not only be on the film side — it’ll be on the TV side,” reveals Vinciquerra.
While it's unclear who will find themselves in starring roles (don't hold your breath for that Rhino movie), it seems as if Hopkins remains optimistic, whomever they should choose. "We’re developing a lot of Marvel-related content, and I think we’ll be out in the market very soon with something really, really big and transformational for us, because we’ve not done any shows with Marvel before, with Marvel IP. So that’s a big piece of development that we’re onto.”
